Childcare Centre

The first new building project in the development of the overall master plan will be the sensitive renovation of the former Secretary’s House in the north-west corner of the racecourse. When considering an appropriate adaptive re-use of the building, the Club was conscious of creating a facility that responded to community needs. To that end, it was subsequently determined that the building was well suited for use as a childcare centre.

The Club entered into a leasing agreement in May of this year with a well-established national childcare operator that will commence upon completion of a carefully designed renovation of the former Secretary’s House on the corner of Thomas and McPherson street.

As a landlord, the MVRC is in the process of securing a long-term lease with a well-respected childcare operator. Research indicates that the largest household type in Moonee Ponds in 2011 was ‘coupled families with children (32%)’ and the MVRC looks forward to providing a new childcare option to meet the demand in our local area.
